Firsts

Hi little man!  You had so many firsts in the past week!!  I just thank God that I have the privilege of being your mom and get to experience those firsts. On Sept 30 you had your first plane trip.  We went to Charleston, South Carolina to meet up with family for a memorial service for Aunt Helen.  Aunt Helen was my grandpa's sister.  All the family from North Carolina were so excited too meet you!

You did great on your first plane ride.  It's a long flight to Charleston and there isn't a direct flight so we had one stop going over and coming back.  On the way over for both flights you were so perfect!  One of the flight attendants gave you little wings for your first flight.  The way back wasn't so easy, you were that baby on the plane crying.  Sorry buddy.

We were staying on Isle of Palms just outside of Charleston and had a little house just a short walk to the beach.  So another first for you was going to the beach and dipping your toes in the Atlantic Ocean.  One thing I love about beaches in the south is the water is always warm so you didn't mind getting your feet wet at all.  You, me, your dad, uncle Ricky, Aunt Anne, Grammy and Grandpa took walks each day on the beach and you just hung out and napped.

For Aunt Helen's memorial service we took a boat trip out to spread her ashes.  She loved it in South Carolina so it was the perfect was to celebrate her.  She was such a quirky funny lady who would comb the beaches collecting up all the things the beach goers would leave behind.  She filled her little beach condo with crazy collections of just about anything and everything.

Aunt Helen :)

We also went into downtown to the market and on a house tour.  Your dad wanted to spare himself from looking at the house and lugging the carseat up the stairs so you, him and Ricky hung out at a restaurant while me, Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Anne, Ellie and Jami visited the old southern mansion.  I'm sure you will discover that I love exploring old cities with lots of history and one of my favorite things is looking at the houses.

Another first for you was sleeping 8 hours a night while we were there!!!  Of course the trend didn't carry on when we got back home.  Must have worn you out during the day over there.

Charleston is one of my favorite cities so hopefully you will be able to go back when you can remember it :)
